Online Learning Guidance
This guidance explains what the school will do to ensure that learning is continued, during a an isolation period. This will provide a three-tiered approach depending on the circumstances.
The plan will offer parents/pupils the opportunity to use remote learning opportunities to ensure work continues online.
The three-tiered approach will be used using the following markers.
- An individual is self-isolating because of a positive test in the household.
- A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in the bubble.
- The whole school is self-isolating because of an outbreak of coronavirus or local/national lockdown.
Within all plans, teachers will set appropriate work in – line with our current curriculum. Children will remain in contact with their teacher through ClassDojo and will be able to receive feedback through this system, to share success and communications. Teachers and parents will be able to message one another to share information and offer support.
ClassDojo will also be used to celebrate children’s work and connect to their year group community.
In the event of any form of isolation and loss of learning caused by the coronavirus, parents must engage in home learning. However, if children find themselves too ill then they should not be expected to complete home learning.
In preparation for home – learning, parents and children will receive logins and passwords for the following platforms:
- DoodleMaths,
- DoodleEnglish
- Doodle Spelling and,
- DoodleTables (if appropriate)
- Teams online learning (to follow)
Other Passwords will be made available for site which support learning when appropriate,
We will be setting work using ClassDojo as this is how we have done this previously and parents have expressed that they prefer it this way as it is the schools main form of communication.
Teachers will communicate with groups of children on Teams if required to provide support and to set further work.
Worksheets and practical resources
If a child is isolated from school i.e. the child is sent home from school to either receive a test or self-isolate as someone in the household is being tested, they will leave school and work will be provided by the school. This is to ensure the children will have an immediate opportunity to continue their learning. This may be in the form of work packs or work being posted on ClassDojo depending on the health of the class teacher. We endeavour to get work out on the first day or the next day at the latest. The expectations will be set out by the class teacher.

Well being
We understand that it is very difficult for parent and children at these times and we are happy to talk about any issues you may be having. We do have ELSA support within the school and arrangements can be made for them to talk to children via video link or a phone call. We also have a range of books in school to support children’s wellbeing if required
Remote learning
Tier 1 – An individual is self-isolating because of a positive test in the household; |
|
Tier 2 – A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in the bubble |
|
Tier 3 – The whole school is self-isolating because of an outbreak of coronavirus or local/national lockdown. |
Parents/Carers need to be aware that staff may have their own childcare to consider as well. There may also be a delay to the learning/feedback if the class teacher is ill. Arrangements will be made for another class teacher to cover in their absence, but consideration will need to be given as this teacher may be teaching another class as well during the day. |
